In 39 of 50 U.S. states the building where the state government is located is called the state capitol.  But in eight states, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, Rhode Island, South Carolina, and Vermont the building is called the state house.  In Indiana and Ohio it is called the statehouse and in Delaware it is known as the legislative hall.
