MAINE

AUGUSTA

In an unexpected move, literally, Collin got a job in Portland, Maine and moved across country from Tacoma, Washington to “the right coast”, Maine.  I helped out with Aida the first week and so of course Aida and I had to make the 50 mile trip to the capital, Augusta.  I was so excited to be in Maine in October thinking I would get to see the New England fall colors.

I was disappointed that they are having a late fall and most of the trees were still green.  But I was still so happy to be spending the week with Aida ( and Collin and Tania!) and able to mark another state capitol off the list.

Augusta is one of those state capitals that is not the largest city in the state.  With a population of about 20,000, Augusta is the third smallest capital.  It is the eastern most capital in the U.S.  So Collin and Tania moved from the western most capital state in the lower 48 to the eastern most capital state.  That’s quite a move!

Aida and I had a little picnic in the beautiful capital  park in front of the Maine State House.

I think she was totally unimpressed!
