About Capitol Quest

WHAT’S THE QUEST ABOUT

Greetings!

My name is Lynn and I’m on a quest to see all 50 state capitols and journal about my visits.  I have been on this mission for nearly 50 years but it’s time to get serious about seeing all of them.  It started when I was a young girl traveling with my parents.  If we were near a state capital city we would go and have our picture taken on the steps of the capitol.  I continued that tradition with my children so there are  pictures with them at some capitols.

I enjoy seeing the Capitol architecture, the uniqueness, the history and the stories of the buildings and the capital cities. The state capitol or state house is the most important civic building in each state and houses its state political history.  Most of the buildings have a central dome fashioned after the U.S. Capitol.  Historically, domed buildings  have been used as distinctive public buildings.   I have found that the capitol building is a source of great pride to each state.  My goal is to tell the 50 separate stories here that make up one beautiful America.

So here is my capitol quest story.  The capitol stories are in no particular order.  As I set about to accomplish my goal I find that I have spent more time and taken more pictures of the capitols that  I have visited most recently .   Originally the goal was to just take the picture of the building  ( with the kids rolling their eyes ) and move on.  But now I am taking more time and learning more about each capitol and capital and want to spread the word.

I hope you enjoy the ride with me!
